CarbonInvoice - simple but powerful
Positive impact, credible action

The CarbonInvoice measurement approach
CarbonInvoice connects to your business’ accounting data and automatically categorises your business expenses into carbon categories. The app then combines that categorised spend with localised industry standard emissions factors to determine your overall business emission (1) intensity. For our emissions calculation methodology, we use a conservative approach, and where there is doubt we round emissions intensity up to calculate the required mitigations.
CarbonInvoice then apportions that on a per invoice basis in order to remove the intensity at the invoice level.
In order to keep this calculation up to date and automatically measure and mitigate invoices on an ongoing basis, CarbonInvoice maintains a connection to your accounting ledger.
(1) CarbonInvoice aligns its methodology with the internationally recognised and accepted GHG protocol Corporate Standard. The GHG Protocol is an international standard that defines clear requirements for the structure and content of carbon corporate reports and the collection of the key figures contained therein.
The GHG Protocol Corporate Standard classifies a company’s GHG emissions into three ‘scopes’.
-
Scope 1 emissions are direct emissions from owned or controlled sources.
-
Scope 2 emissions are indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy.
-
Scope 3 emissions are all indirect emissions (not included in scope 2) that occur in the value chain of the reporting company, including both upstream and downstream emissions.

CarbonInvoice mitigation partners
CarbonInvoice works with trusted and credible partners in the climate space to mitigate emissions and remove carbon.
We have partnered with the Trees That Count conservation charity for the funding of native tree planting to enable the mitigation of your business' carbon footprint over 50 years from planting. Trees That Count works with planters throughout New Zealand who are restoring, and growing, precious wildlife corridors or pockets of native forest, turning small projects into mighty ones.
We are planning to add more mitigation and offsetting projects to our portfolio to provide you with further options that align with your business and the impact you want to make.
